Two charged in Friday robbery
DeKALB – Two men have been charged with robbing a group of teenagers Friday.
Kent Brown, 19, of Dolton, and Gregory Carter, 21, of DeKalb, were charged Friday afternoon with aggravated robbery and theft from person, according to a written statement from the DeKalb Police Department.
Investigators found the two men with property belonging to the victims around 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of South Fifth Street, said the statement.
The group of four teens reported the robbery at the DeKalb Police Station around 1:30 p.m. Friday, DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler has said.
They told detectives that they had been approached by two men in the 500 block of South Fifth Street.
The men asked one of the teenagers whether he could borrow a cell phone. The robbers were given the phone and then demanded other property, threatening they would shoot the victims if they didn't comply.
A gun was implied but never shown.
