Park district dedicates renovated playgrounds

Comments (...)

The DeKalb Park District Board of Commissioners recently dedicated two renovated playgrounds.

The League of Women’s Voters Park, 262 Cotton Ave., features Game Time Play Equipment for ages 5-12, along with seating areas, a bike rack, water fountain and small gazebo.

The second dedication occurred at Kishwaukee Kiwanis Park, 1019 E. Lincoln Highway. The equipment also features play components for ages 5-12. In addition, a color scheme of blue and gold was chosen to mirror that of the DeKalb Kiwanis Service Club, which was instrumental in the development of the first playground.

This year, the DeKalb Kiwanis assisted the park district with the installation of the new landscape material.

Kiwanis Park also has seating, an accessible picnic area, bike rack and drinking fountain. In addition, the entire playground was enclosed with a fence to provide a safer environment for the children using the park, given the proximity to Lincoln Highway.

Kiwanis Park also is the site of an informational gazebo provided by the Lincoln Highway Coalition.
