Church invites public to film series

Westminster Presbyterian Church of DeKalb invites community members who like “movies with a message” to view and discuss “Gran Torino” at 6 p.m. Sunday. This adult drama, starring Clint Eastwood as a surly, retired auto worker who gets drawn into the lives of his immigrant Hmong neighbors, is the second in Westminster’s Sunday evening Faith and Film Series.
Larry Werline, host of the series, has selected a mix of comedies and dramas to promote discussion and learning for Westminster’s adult education outreach program; however, several of the selected films are appropriate for the whole family.
The films will be shown at 6 p.m the first Sunday of each month at 830 Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb.
This educational program is free and open to the public. Come for one, some or all of the films:
• Dec. 6: “The Nativity”
• Jan. 3: “The Gods Must Be Crazy”
• Feb. 7: “Glory”
• March 7: “Wall-E”
• April 11: “Doubt”
• May 2: The group will choose a film for the final movie of the 2009-10 series.
