County hosting H1N1 vaccine clinic Sunday
By DAILY CHRONICLE

DeKALB – County health officials are hosting an H1N1 vaccine clinic from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the county health department, 2550 N. Annie Glidden Road.
Health officials say the limited number of injections are meant for people who fall into high priority target groups:
• Pregnant women
• People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
• All people ages 6 months through 24 years of age
• People aged 25 through 64 who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza
• And health care and emergency medical services workers.
No appointment is necessary. Vaccines are free and will be given on a first come, first served basis.
County officials say the H1N1 vaccine campaign is just beginning. Once high-priority populations have been vaccinated, the vaccine will be made available to the general public, according to a written statement from the Health Department.
The county offered several tips for those who are planning to attend the clinic:
• Children under 18 must come with an adult or guardian.
• People are encouraged to wear short-sleeved shirts so their arms are exposed.
• Visitors are warned to expect a long wait, and they should bring items such as water, snacks and diapers for children.
• Entrance to the Health Department will be allowed only off Dresser Road, and exit will be on to Annie Glidden Road only.
• Print and complete consent forms online. Visit www.dekalbcountyhealthdepartment.org to find the consent form for people 3 years and older. Forms for people 6 months to 3 years old will be available at the clinic.
• Anyone who is allergic to eggs, has had a fever of 100 degrees or greater in the last 24 hours, or has had a life-threatening reaction after a dose of seasonal flu vaccine will not be given the H1N1 vaccine.
