Kishwaukee College is hosting its annual College Night from 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 4, in the college gymnasium, with a special presentation on financing a college education at 6 p.m. in Jenkins Auditorium.

Each year, the college partners with area high schools to host this opportunity to give prospective students a chance to comparison shop post-high school programs, colleges and universities, while gathering information on academic programs, admissions requirements and financial aid for several schools at once.

At this year’s event, representatives from more than 60 institutions, including colleges, universities, military programs and trade schools, will be on hand to provide informational materials, applications and answer questions. The event also is recommended for Kishwaukee College students who are preparing to transfer to a four-year university.

A Career Technologies-division Open House also will be held, in the A-400 wing, for students and parents wanting to learn more about the certificates, degrees and career opportunities in the programs offered in Career Tech at Kishwaukee College. The A-400 wing, is directly across from the south side of the gym where College Night will be held.

The Career Technologies Open House will feature representatives from the division’s programs that offer one- and two-year certificates and degrees in occupations in which students can enter the workforce immediately after program completion. Programs offering information during the open house include automated engineering technology, automotive, aviation flight, building-construction technology, collision-repair technology, computer-aided-design technology, computer information systems, criminal justice, diesel-power technology, electronics, equine science, horticulture, marketing and management, office systems and welding.

In addition, an informational open house for the Engineering-Mathematics-Science Academy will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for high school juniors who are currently enrolled in pre-calculus, and their parents, in Room A-273 East/Conference Center Dining Room. EMSA is a program for area high school seniors interested in engineering or other math/science based majors. By enrolling in EMSA, seniors take a series of calculus and physics courses at Kish to earn up to 26 hours of college credit while finishing high school.

One of College Night’s most popular events is the financial aid presentation with a question-and-answer session with Pam Wagener, KC coordinator of financial aid. The financial aid presentation has been widely attended in recent years, leaving standing room only in the auditorium. This year, the College’s Media Services department will  broadcast the presentation and question-and-answer session to a nearby classroom to accommodate all interested parents and students.
