Agency provides child identification kits

DeKalb’s Human Relations Commission sponsored a community block party on Sept. 27 at Hopkins Park.
The event was full of fun, with music and activities for the kids, according to a news release. Family Service Agency set up a table to pass out Child Identification kits for families.
These kits, provided to Family Service Agency Children’s Advocacy Center by Kiwanis Club of DeKalb, allow parents to keep important identification information such as fingerprints, DNA samples, and a recent photograph, in a safe place in case of emergency. It is a precaution that one hopes to never need, but a precaution better taken than neglected.
These kits also were passed out at Target’s National Night Out on Aug. 4, and most recently were distributed again on Oct. 15 at FSA’s Internet Safety presentation held at the Regional Office of Education. The Internet Safety presentation was sponsored by Family Service Agency Children’s Advocacy Center, in conjunction with the DCP/SAFE Community Violence Prevention Committee. The event taught parents how to better protect the community’s children from computer sex offenders.
