Cross Country Roundup: Kurpius, two Knights teams advance

Genoa-Kingston freshman Renae Kurpius will advance to sectionals after finishing 18^th in 20:07 at the Class 1A Winnebago Regional on Saturday.

Dana Timmermann was 37^th, Aryelle Hanson was 46^th and Vanessa Kwan was for the Cogs, who finished in eighth place.

G-K’s boys team also finished eighth but did not have any sectional qualifiers. Alex Bode (28^th) led the way while Trevor Hanson (34^th), Titus Young (39^th) were other top runners for the Cogs.

Knights advance as teams: The Kaneland girls finished third to advance as a team out of the Class 2A Aurora Central Catholic Regional.

The Knights were led by Andie Strang ( 19:16 ), Ashley Castellanos (19:17.8), Lisa Roberson (19:21.2), Abby Dobis (19:30.1), Kris Bowen (19:57.6), Kelly Evers (20:05.1) and Shelby Koester (21:32.1).

Kaneland’s boys team also advanced by finishing second at ACC thanks to Trevor Holm (15:28.9), Matt Reusche (15:42.8), Dominic Furco (16:05.1), Logan Markuson (16:12.7), Edgar Valle (16:14.0) and Grant Alef (16:33.6).
