
Cross Country Roundup: Kurpius, two Knights teams advanceBy Daily Chronicle Staff - sports@daily-chronicle.comGenoa-Kingston freshman Renae Kurpius will advance to sectionals after finishing 18th in 20:07 at the Class 1A Winnebago Regional on Saturday.
Dana Timmermann was 37th, Aryelle Hanson was 46th and Vanessa Kwan was for the Cogs, who finished in eighth place.
G-K’s boys team also finished eighth but did not have any sectional qualifiers. Alex Bode (28th) led the way while Trevor Hanson (34th), Titus Young (39th) were other top runners for the Cogs.
Knights advance as teams: The Kaneland girls finished third to advance as a team out of the Class 2A Aurora Central Catholic Regional.
The Knights were led by Andie Strang ( 19:16 ), Ashley Castellanos (19:17.8), Lisa Roberson (19:21.2), Abby Dobis (19:30.1), Kris Bowen (19:57.6), Kelly Evers (20:05.1) and Shelby Koester (21:32.1).
Kaneland’s boys team also advanced by finishing second at ACC thanks to Trevor Holm (15:28.9), Matt Reusche (15:42.8), Dominic Furco (16:05.1), Logan Markuson (16:12.7), Edgar Valle (16:14.0) and Grant Alef (16:33.6). Comments
