Museum to host holiday event for children of all ages

The Midwest Museum of Natural History will host a new event to the community, which it hopes will become a holiday tradition.

The Children’s Tree Festival, Nov. 21-Jan. 2, will showcase trees decorated with ornaments provided by local children. Area children’s groups of all sizes are invited to participate by providing ornaments to decorate a tree.

Homemade ornaments, handmade items, photographs – the ideas are endless, according to a recent news release. Museum visitors also will be able to make ornaments to hang on the trees during the festival.

“We wanted to do something extra special for our visitors this holiday season,” Margaret Glick, museum board member, said in the release. “There is something magical about walking through a room lighted with trees.”

The museum also is accepting donations of Christmas trees.

During the festival, the museum also will host special holiday events and crafts.

Groups wishing to decorate a tree should submit a reservation by Nov. 9. There is no cost to participate beyond the cost of decorations. Space is limited.

For information, to register a group, or make a donation, call the museum.
