Michael and Emily Carlson
Michael Carlson and Emily Mattison were married May 16, 2009, in a simple outdoor ceremony in a prairie south of Oregon, Ill.
The bride, daughter of Donna Mattison of Oregon, Ill., attends the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and will receive her Bachelor of Science in integrative biology in December. She plans to continue her studies as a graduate student in ornithology.
The groom, son of Richard and Kathleen Carlson of DeKalb, received his Bachelor of Science in engineering physics from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. He is enrolled in medical physics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn.
The couple will reside in Nashville.
ANNIVERSARIES
65th anniversary
Robert and Margaret O’Donnell of DeKalb were united in marriage on Oct. 28, 1944, at St. Mary Catholic Church, DeKalb.
Both are retired.
They have six children, Marilyn (Russ) Smith of Dixon, Dennis (Donna) O’Donnell of Cortland, Tom (Ruth) O’Donnell of Kingston, Rita Troeger of Rockford, and David (Renee) O’Donnell and Pat (Sherri) O’Donnell, both of Sycamore; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

BIRTHDAYS
80th birthday
Adele P. (Matekaitis) Berkes of DeKalb will celebrate her 80th birthday at an open house birthday celebration from 3:30-5 p.m. Nov. 1 (Sunday) in the Chandelier Dining Room at Bethany Healthcare, 3298 Resource Parkway, DeKalb.
Her family invites her friends to join in celebrating her life, which began Oct. 29, 1929.
She is the mother of six, Susan Eby of Springfield, Thomas Berkes of Santa Fe, N.M., the late Joanne Gurley, James Berkes of Danville, Lori Berkes-Nelson of Loves Park and Sharon Priggee of Cottonwood, Ariz. She also is the grandmother of 14, Aaron Gersonde and Maggie Eby, Jake and Danielle Berkes, Nick and Tom Gurley, Sam, Paul, Jay and Celia Berkes, Maddie and Forrest Nelson, Alexandria and James Priggee; and the great-grandmother of four.
