Kuipers plans TS Family DayThe fourth annual TS Family Day on the Farm at Kuipers Family Farm, 1N318 Watson Road in Maple Park, is set for the scariest day of the year – Halloween. The event raises money for the TS Alliance, an organization formed to find a cure for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, a devastating disease that causes tumors to form on any organ in the body. Local resident Stone Wendel was born with TSC 12 years ago, and his parents, George and Becky Wendel of Elburn, have teamed up with Kuipers to create a great way for families to enjoy their farm and raise money at the same time, according to a news release. Each year, the event has grown and this year it got a little bigger, the release said. Appearing this year for the first time in the area, the Blue Thunder Ride Truck. The vehicle is a replica of the original Blue Thunder monster truck, but this one is offering rides for anyone for $5; 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the TS Alliance. After a ride on Blue Thunder, stop by the Orchard Shop & Bakery for their famous apple cider doughnuts, home-baked pies and more. |
