CROP Walk nearing goal

DeKalb Mayor Kris Povlsen was among the 287 people who participated in the 2009 Sondra King Memorial CROP Walk to end hunger.

The annual walk, held this year on Oct. 18, collected more than $25,000 toward its $30,000 goal. Proceeds will go to local hunger-fighting agencies, as well as to the development and aid programs of Church World Service.

Organizers said they had the most walkers ever this year, and are nearing this year’s goal.
