
CSA planning two concertsDAILY CHRONICLE Two upcoming concerts promise great music from young musicians in the Northern Illinois University Community School of the Arts. Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in the Concert Hall in the NIU Music Building. Admission is free. On Oct. 28, Linc Smelser conducts the CSA Sinfonia in its first performance of the season. Members will perform the music of Glinka, Smetana, Tchaikovsky and Cream. On Nov. 1, under the direction of Donnie Norton, the CS Jazz Band will perform tunes by Duke Ellington, Sammy Nestico, Charles Mingus, Harold Arlen and NIU faculty member Tom Garling. Admission into either ensemble is by audition only. Auditions for next year’s groups are in May. Call the community school at 815-753-1450 for audition information.
