PREP ROUNDUP: Kaneland's boys soccer season ends

The Kaneland boys soccer team lost to Antioch, 6-0, in a Class 2A Kaneland Regional semifinal match Tuesday. Antioch scored early with four goals in the first half to put the game out of reach. The Knights ended their season with a record of 7-14-1.
Bobcats eliminated: Somonauk lost, 3-0, to Earlville-Leland in the Class 1A Hinckley-Big Rock Regional championship match. Somonauk ends the season 16-4-2.
Girls Volleyball
Barbs glide to win: DeKalb beat Glenbard South, 25-23, 25-17. Courtney Thomas had 12 kills and three digs, Emily Bemis had seven kills and Rachel Raynor added 11 assists for the Barbs.
Knights win in three: Kaneland came back to defeat Yorkville, 21-25, 25-19, 25-9. Katy Dudzinski had six kills and six aces, Ashley Dunn had seven kills and Jessica Lubic had 15 assists for the Knights.
Royals sweep T'wolves: Hinckley-Big Rock defeated Indian Creek, 25-19, 25-23.
Katie Hollis had nine points, Jenna Thorp had 17 digs and eight kills and Kaitlin Phillips had 16 digs for H-BR (23-8-1, 8-0 Little Ten).
Katie Browder had five kills for the Timberwolves (8-19, 4-4 Little Ten) while Cameron Wallace had 12 digs.
"I was very proud of the way they played tonight," Indian Creek coach Stephanie Crutcher said. "I thought we played with a lot more heart and a lot more emotion than they have in a long time."
G-K falls in three: Genoa-Kingston suffered a 25-22, 21-25, 25-12 loss to Byron.
Gretchen Freise had 11 kills, Rachel Ellstrom finished with 11 digs and Erin Stojan added with seven blocks. Laura Volkening dished out 23 assists.
"It was a close game, and I expected it to be close after we played them the last time," Genoa-Kingston coach Tiffany Sitarz said. "The girls are still learning a lot and trying to get it together. Without all the unforced errors, who knows what would have happened."
Bobcats fall: Somonauk lost, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, to Paw Paw. The Bobcats are 9-22, 3-5 in the Little Ten.
Spartans outlast Batavia: Sycamore defeated Batavia, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20. The Spartans (28-5, 11-2 Western Sun) had to switch around their lineup because of an ankle injury to libero Justine Schepler. Sarah Verkler stepped in and had 16 digs.
"The girls played out of their minds," Sycamore coach Debbie Klock said.
Kate Binder had eight kills and Jill Johnson had 33 assists.
