Genoa man held on $50K bond for alleged car burglaries

SYCAMORE – A Genoa man is being held on $50,000 bond on charges he burglarized three vehicles in Kingston last July.

A warrant was issued last Thursday for the arrest of Derek Jones, 19, of the 400 block of Madison Street. He was arrested Saturday evening at his home.

According to court documents, Jones is charged with entering three vehicles – a pickup truck in the 300 block of Sandra Street, a sport-utility vehicle in the 300 block of Windhaven Drive and a pickup truck in the 900 block of Sandra Street – on July 16 with the intention of burglarizing them.

It was not immediately clear what was taken in the thefts.

Burglary to a motor vehicle is a Class 2 felony, and each count is punishable by three to seven years in prison.
