Sycamore Pumpkin Festival begins Wednesday

Provided photo Stage Coach Players’ annual Pumpkin Festival Children’s Costume Contest, at noon Sunday will be held near the parade route starting point on Becker Street and Park Place in the Ideal Industries lot in Sycamore. Children age 13 and younger are welcome to participate. Trophies will be given to the best costumes. In addition, all children who enter the contest are invited to ride in a Clydesdale-pulled wagon provided by George and Barb Alexander. Pumpkin Festival begins with check-in from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday on theDeKalb County Courthouse lawn. The opening ceremony, with its gigantic cake, will start at 5 p.m.

The pumpkin displays can be viewed at any time through Sunday, and the parade will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Pumpkin Festival shuttle buses will have several stops on their routes.

Fun activities are planned throughout the festival, including a teen carnival Thursday-Sunday at Sacramento and State streets and a Kiddie Carnival Friday-Sunday at Somonauk and Elm streets.

And craft fairs will be held: from noon-5:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m-5 p.m. Saturday at Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave.; and the 37th annual Autumn Treasures Craft and Treasures Market will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Sycamore High School Field House.
