Loosen up, provided by Senior Services Center

The Family Service Agency Senior Services Center is always buzzing with activity, which now includes an exercise class at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the center at 330 Grove St. in DeKalb.

The class is brought to the center by the Northern Illinois University Student Health Organization. Professor Nancy Lacursia, along with students Michelle Olson and Melissa Sack, teach a gentle stretch class, in which all of the exercises are performed in a chair.

With Glen Miller playing in the background, the class provides a good full-body stretch, even stretching out fingers and toes. Then, for those who participate in the stretches, Lacrsia offers health-related bingo – each piece on the board relates to good health practices.

The class, and the bingo, provide good, healthy fun, and are an excellent addition to the many activities provided by Family Service Agency Senior Services Center for those 55 years of age and older. For more information about Senior Service Center, and its activities, contact Mary Overbey, at 815-758-4718.
