Borders book drive a success for BBBS

Between Aug. 1-Sept. 7, the local Borders Books Music & Café teamed up with the Family Service Agency’s Big Brothers Big Sisters department for its third annual book drive.

Customers purchased a wide selection of books to donate to the organization. When Julie Morsch, Borders store manager, delivered the donations to the Family Service Agency, the staff were expecting a few boxes, but they were pleasantly surprised as Morsch delivered 13 boxes of books and other items that had been donated, according to a news release.

The Family Service Agency’s Big Brothers Big Sisters staff is grateful to Borders for giving the community the chance to get involved, and grateful to the customers for the donations to the children in the programs, according to the release.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters program has served the families of the DeKalb County youth for more than 38 years, and projects like the book drive deepen the importance that local businesses and community members play in the service of the programs, according to the news release.
