4-C offers courses for care providers

Community Coordinated Child Care is offering two workshops for child care center staff and family child care providers at its office, 155 N. Third St., Suite 300, in DeKalb.

• “Getting Ready for the Business Administration Scale”: 9 a.m.-noon Saturday; 4-C membership not required. A statewide nonrefundable fee of $15 is required for registration for this workshop for family child care providers. Designed for family child care providers, this session provides an overview of the BAS, which is designed to assess the quality of management practices in the family child care setting. After completing this training, providers will have a basic knowledge of the BAS, be able to use the tool for self-assessment and be aware of the linkages to the Illinois Department of Human Services Quality Rating System.

• “Connecting Young Children to Nature”: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday; 4-C membership is required. This free workshop is designed to help care providers show children how to interact with nature, because exploring the outdoors helps children develop socially, academically and physically.

Registration is required for both workshops; call Kim Sciacero at ext. 226 at 815-758-8149 or 800-848-8727.
