
St. John Lutheran to host health fairSt. John Lutheran Church, 26555 Brickville Road in Sycamore, will host a Health and Wellness Fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Many aspects of good health will be covered. Every hour, a different speaker will cover a different topic: Dr. Thomas Dwyer will speak about “Taking Healthy Steps.” “What’s New in Cancer Therapy” will be presented by Ted Brock, a registered nurse. Pastor Robert Weinhold will lead a session on “Prayer and Healing.” A demonstration and talk will be presented by registered nurse Jeannette Voupel about “Massage Therapy.” “Heart and Lung Function,” as well as a fire extinguisher demonstration will be available. Questions presented to the professionals are welcome. There also will be displays to check out, such as “In Touch Home Care” by Counseling and Family Care, “The Natural Cook” by Jo Cessna, “Dependacare” and a “Family Health Center.” Throughout the day participants may have their blood pressure checked. Walgreens will be there to give flu shots. Heartland Blood Center will conduct a blood drive from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in a mobile unit parked in front of the church.
