OK Go to appear at Otto’s on Nov. 13

Grammy Award-winning band, OK Go will make its debut in DeKalb at Otto’s Nightclub on Nov. 13. Tickets for OK Go cost $12 and are available at www.yourticketstand.com. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Their fans know OK Go from their videos, especially those treadmills. Any video that’s well known enough to be parodied on The Simpsons is a cultural force in itself and as of Oct. 2, its YouTube rating was 47,788,229 views, according to a news release.

OK Go’s new record, “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky,” is adventurously, emphatically musical, according to the release. The ear-worm catchiness of the band’s earlier records is still there, but the writing is more focused and sure-footed, and the guitar sound is broader and more dimensional.

The album is named after an 1876 book about the healing power of blue light and the lyrics are mostly about brave attempts at hope in the face of hopeless situations, which makes it fantastically upbeat and also very sad.

Members of the band are Damian Kulash, vocal/guitar; Tim Nordwind, bass; Dan Konopka, drums; and Andy Ross, guitar/keyboards.
