DeKalb wrestling to host HOF banquet
The fourth annual DeKalb Wrestling Hall of Fame Banquet will begin at 5 p.m. on Nov. 28 at the Best Western & Suites (1212 W. Lincoln Highway) in DeKalb.

Wrestlers Jim Dayton, Rich Olsen, Mike Pelikan, Gordon “Corky” Roach, Trent Taylor and Jerry Wallin, coaches Dan Cliffe, and Terry McCoy, and the 1975-76 team will be honored.

DeKalb girls hoops team hosting tryouts
The DeKalb girls basketball traveling teams are holding tryouts for their 2009-10 teams on Oct. 18-19 at DeKalb High School’s main gym.

Players in fifth through eighth grades are eligible to tryout. Tryout times are noon to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19.

Please plan to attend both dates. If you are unable to attend, call coach Debbie Whitman at 815-756-4922.

DeKalb conducting dinner fundraiser
The DeKalb High School baseball and softball programs will be hosting a drive-thru Pork Chop/Chicken Dinner on Oct. 20. The cost is $10 per meal.

Each meal includes one chicken breast or one pork chop, potato salad, baked beans, applesauce, rolls and butter. Meals are catered by Whitman’s catering.

Tickets can be bought through the athletic office. Proceeds benefit both programs.

Kishwaukee Hockey League results
Results from the second week of play in the Kishwaukee Hockey League:

In the first game, the Warhammers (2-0) were led by Pat Sheppard’s three goals to beat the Sandwiches (1-1), 8-4. The Sandwiches’ leading scorer was Tom First, who had two goals.

In the second game, the Shamrocks (1-1) beat the Wolverines, 5-2. Sean Conlon lead the Shamrocks with two goals and an assist. Brian Birman led the Wolverines (0-2) with two goals.

In the final game, Mike Schoenberg’s four goals led the Deuces Wild (2-0) past the Speedhawks (1-1), 11-2.
