SYFL teams go 6-0 on Saturday

SYCAMORE – All six Sycamore Youth Football League (SYFL) teams scored wins over the Labor Day weekend, improving the organization’s record to 14-4 this season.
In Heavyweight action (12U), Sycamore Black defeated Kaneland Black, 24-6, and sits atop their division at 3-0. Jeremiah Wright scored twice on 42- and 47-yard rushing plays, and Matthew Coovert caught a 52-yard pass by Parker Majerus. Collin Lee and Daniel Coovert rushed for extra points. Defensively, Daniel Hein had an interception and Dustin Larson recovered a fumble to spearhead a solid defensive performance that held a Kaneland offense that was averaging 21 points a game to only six.
In Flyweight play (8U), Sycamore Black defeated Kaneland Black, 24-14, and Sycamore Gold topped Kaneland White, 28-8. For Sycamore Gold, quarterback Troy Larson scored two touchdowns, and Gage Armstrong and Jordan Gandy rushed for one a piece. Both Armstrong and Larson scored extra-point conversions. Both Sycamore Flyweight teams are 3-0.
In the Lightweight age division (10U), Sycamore Black won, 26-6, agaibnst Kaneland Black and remains atop its division with a 3-0 record. Sycamore White defeated Burlington White, 20-0, improving to 1-2. Sycamore Gold also scored a win against Kaneland White, 22-8, improving to 1-2.
SYFL is a member of the Northern Illinois Conference (NIFC) and competes against teams from Belvidere North, Burlington, Christian Life, Dakota, Genoa, Kaneland, Roscoe, Win-Du-Pec and Winnebago.
