SYCAMORE – Police were searching for witnesses Friday to an armed robbery that occurred late Thursday night in the Wendy's drive-through.
Police responded to a call about a robbery at the restaurant located at 439 E. State St. around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. They arrived just minutes after a man armed with a knife walked up to the window while a customer was being served, said Sycamore Detective Sgt. Steven Cook.
"He came in between the car and the drive-through window," Cook said. "There was a customer right there, but we don't know who that customer is because they subsequently left."
Saying nothing, the suspect, who was dressed in black with his face covered, reached into the window and shoved the employee working at the drive-through, police said. He then grabbed cash from the drawer and fled the scene.
Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have been in the area of the Sycamore Wendy's during the time of the robbery. They are also searching for the customer who was present at the time.
Anyone with information should contact Cook at the Sycamore Police Department at 815-895-3435 or call Crime Stoppers at 815-895-3272.
