Police: Man rolled through sign in deadly crash

LELAND – Police say a Naperville man who died in a two-car crash Tuesday rolled through a stop sign and into the path of another car.
Donald Decou Jr., 74, was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday at the scene of the crash near the intersection of Leland and Suydam roads, according to a report from the DeKalb County Coroner's Office.
Witnesses told police that Decou was headed northbound on Leland Road in his 1999 Buick Regal around 5:15 p.m., when he rolled through a stop sign at Suydam Road, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.
He then collided with a Ford F-350 pickup truck that was eastbound on Suydam Road and being driven by Ronald Z. Kern, 29, of Paw Paw. Kern, and his passenger, Ronald R. Kern, 60, were both uninjured in the crash.
"This is not ranked as one of our most dangerous intersections, but the area is highly traveled," DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott said Wednesday.
