By KATE SCHOTT – kschott@daily-chronicle.com

DeKALB – Police are looking for a man who robbed a title loan business early Thursday afternoon

Police were called shortly after 12:15 p.m. to Illinois Title Loans Inc. at 2733 Sycamore Road in DeKalb after employees there said a man pulled out a silver handgun and demanded money, DeKalb Police Chief Bill Feithen said.

No shots were fired and no one was injured, Feithen said.

The man fled with an undisclosed amount of money, Feithen said, and headed west through the parking lot toward a grassy area near DeKalb Area Retirement Center-Oak Crest. Officers from DeKalb and Sycamore police departments, as well as the county sheriff's department, were searching for the man as of 1:30 p.m.

Employees at other nearby businesses said they did not see anything.

The man was described by victims as black and in his 40s, Feithen said. He was wearing a tan shirt and had a mustache and dreadlocks, but Feithen said victims thought the hair may have been fake.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the DeKalb Police Department at 815-748-8400.
