IDOT to suspend lane closures

By DAILY CHRONICLE

The Illinois Department of Transportation will suspend most construction-related lane closures through midnight Sunday to ease travel during the Fourth of July weekend, according to a written statement from the department.

Though IDOT will open roads wherever possible, it is not possible to suspend all construction work, and some road and lane closures will remain. Drivers are asked to be conscious of work zone speed limits, as workers will continue to work throughout the weekend in some areas. Detours will be posted where roads are closed.

No closures impacting traffic this weekend are planned in DeKalb County, but the interstate interchange from westbound I-88 to northbound I-39 in Rochelle will remain closed.

Drivers can get more information about ongoing construction projects online at www.illinoisroads.info. Interstate road information is available by phone at 800-452-4368.
