Classics quilt to benefit Elder Care Services

Resource Bank Classics Club will donate its 13th hand-stitched quilt, called “Classics Azalea,” to support Elder Care Services of DeKalb.

A panel of ladies in the Classics Club chose the quilt design and members began piecing the blocks together in January. Quilters gather every Thursday to stitch, reminisce and share their skills. Members have donated their time for seven months to organize, design and create this quilt.

The ladies have donated 12 quilts over the years, and have raised more than $25,000 for various organizations. This year, Elder Care Services of DeKalb will receive the quilt. Elder Care Services of DeKalb County, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with more than 20 years of service dedicated to helping area seniors maintain a good quality of life.

The quilt will be on display at all seven Resource Bank branches from September through December. All are welcome to visit the banks to view the quilt. The winner of the quilt will be announced at Resource Bank’s annual “Classics holiday party” on Dec. 12. Tickets for the Elder Care Services quilt raffle cost $1 each or $5 for six or six.

Those who helped with the production of the quilt are Shirley Gylleck, the project coordinator, Louise Olson, Marvel Larson, Doris Hoard, Dorothy Smith, Sadie Lunn and Opal Wilson, and Maxine Boekenhauer, Clara Coffey, Bonnie French, Evelyn Hintzsche, Gloria Rand, Deanna Fidler, Sandi Frost and Nancy Burmeister.

Resource Bank is committed to the continued support of the communities in DeKalb County. For more information on purchasing tickets for the quilt or becoming a member of Classics Club, call Nancy Burmeister or Sandi Frost at 1-815-756-6321 or visit www.resourcebank.com.
