Hats off on Celebration Chorale

To the editor:

There was another event over the weekend that did not receive the global attention that the BET Awards presentation did. That was the presentation by the Celebration Chorale of “The Home of the Brave” at the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall on the Northern Illinois University campus.

If you were not there Friday or Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon, mark your calendars to watch for an announcement of this yearly event in 2010.

Christine Monteiro directed the chorale group as well as the Junior Chorale members, accompanied by the Chorale Orchestra. At the conclusion of the concert Ms. Monteiro lent her beautiful voice to a solo performance.

I, for one, was deeply moved by the rendition of the songs, re-enactment of historical events and the salute to our military.

Hats off to all who participated, including the people behind the scenes for a job well done.
