LOCAL BRIEFS: More NIU football times released

On the heels of Wednesday's announcement of the Mid-American Conference's television schedule for football, Northern Illinois announced the game times of six more games on Thursday.
NIU's Sept. 12 home opener versus Western Illinois will begin at 6:30 p.m., while the Idaho (Sept. 26) and Western Michigan (Oct. 3) games are slated for 2:30 p.m starts. Information on television broadcasts for those contests is to be announced.
Three of NIU’s MAC opponents released the times for their home games against the Huskies as the NIU-Toledo game will begin at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17, the Oct. 24 contest at Miami (Ohio) will start at noon and the Nov. 21 game at Ohio will start at 1 p.m.
Monday's church softball league results
Immanuel Lutheran defeated DeKalb 1st Baptist 14-1 in the DeKalb/Sycamore Church League on Monday night. Jim Harvey took the win while Rock Sandy suffered the loss.
Hillcrest Covenant beat a shorthanded Sycamore Methodist II squad, 15-2. Dale McMillan pitched three innings of no-hit ball for Hillcrest while Trisha Nelson took the loss.
Sycamore 1st Baptist I defeated Evangelical Free, 22-6. Nakota Garbes won her first decision for Sycamore, and James High led the victors in hitting.
Glad Tidings defeated Sycamore 1st Baptist II, 10-3. Bill Finucane was the winning pitcher.
Church All-Star game is set
The annual DeKalb/Sycamore Church Fastpitch League All-Star game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday. The game will be played at Cortland Community Park.
Donations will be taken for the Crisis Pregnancy Care Center. The All-Star game was restarted last year, and the 2008 contest saw the DeKalb division defeat the Sycamore division. 12-9.
The DeKalb division is composed of: Christ Community, Immanuel Lutheran, Hillcrest Covenant, Glad Tidings and DeKalb 1st Baptist. The Sycamore division will be made up of Sycamore 1st Baptist I, Sycamore 1st Baptist II, Sycamore Methodist, Evangelical Free and Salem Lutheran.
