Kardboard Boat race set for July 25

Kingston Fest and Kardboard Boat race will be held July 25 in the village of Kingston and many teams have already started to build their new and improved cardboard vessels, to compete for speediest, strongest, most fanciful ships on the mighty Kishwaukee River.

The regatta is limited to the first 10 boats to sign up. Friendly rivalries are encouraged. Fleet-of-the-Fleet prize, sponsored by the village of Kingston, is $100. Other awards include the “Pirates of Pizzazz,” for the crew with the most spirit, and the Titanic Award for the most spectacular sinking. To register, contact Vice Admiral Taunya Fischer at the Kingston Village Hall, 815-784-5572.

The race will be the finale of Kingston Fest, which begins at noon that day at Kingston Township Park. Other activities include a softball tournament, craft and vendor fair, games, races, contests and a raffle with cash prizes totaling more than $500. To reserve a vendor space, also call the number above.
