DeKalb Music Boosters: 7 p.m. fourth Thursday each month, September through June, at DeKalb High School Music Room. Volunteers are sought to help with the DeKalb Music Boosters Corn Fest Craft Fair. Annually, the craft fair raises about $10,000, which helps fund programs for DeKalb middle and high school music students, such as sending the DHS Jazz Ensemble to Essentual Ellington, a prestigious competition in New York. Anyone who would like to help the students are invited to planning meetings throughout the year.

Old North Grove School Days: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the one-room school house at 26745 Brickville Road in Sycamore. Highlights of the event are tours of the old schoolhouse, complete with a “Swedish Schoolmarm,” maypole dances, old-time buggies to view, lunch on Saturday, Ice cream social on Sunday, with old-fashioned games conducted at 2 p.m. both days.

40th annual Swedish Days Bike Ride: 6-9:30 a.m. check in Sunday, beginning and ending at Howard B. Thomas Elementary School in Burlington, hosted by the Fox Valley Bicycle and Ski Club. This ride is open to all levels of riders, including individuals, $25, and families, $45; riders can choose from six ride distances from 25 to 124 miles, and will ride through the Hampshire, Burlington, Virgil and Maple Park areas. Three rest stops offer water and snacks; cyclists will be treated to watermelon, ice cream, cold water and lemonade at ride’s end. Register online via the FVBSC Web site www.fvbsc.org, following the link to www.active.com, or print out the online registration form to bring to the ride on Sunday. Brochures are available at area bike shops, park districts, and libraries. Proceeds from the Swedish Day Ride allow the club to donate to a variety of trail- and cycling-related causes each year. Other events that day will include the Hinckley Lions Club car show, starting at 3 p.m., and food and other attractions from 5-8 p.m. The public is invited, but should note that Rees Street for the day will be a one-way street going south and no parking will be available on the west side of Rees Street or any where on Prairie Street.
