Cornerstone kicks off summer camp session
The summer camp program at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Sycamore is up and running. CCA offers parents a 10-week summer camp program with hours for working parents from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The camp offers a full week or a couple days a week to allow more flexibility for working parents with busy summer schedules.
The weekly schedule includes a visit to the Hopkins Park pool in DeKalb on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, campers will enjoy a “big excursion” day when they visit destinations such as Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, DuPage Children’s Center and Skate Land in Rockford, just to name a few. Campers end the week back at CCA on Fridays to enjoy scavenger hunts, water wars, carnival days and more. Other activities include an old-fashion cookout, complete with marshmallows for roasting over a camp fire by the camp counselors.
Camp directors this year are Bob and Stacy Gorbold. Both are CCA teachers and have prior experience with summer camp programs. Both were involved with Blackhawk Camp in Oregon for several years and are bringing their skills and talents to CCA’s camp program.
