
DeKalb native promoted majorRobert D. Kunkel has been promoted to the rank of major in the United States Army. A 1986 graduate of DeKalb High School, Kunkel enlisted in the Army as an infantryman. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps in 1999 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in exercise prescription and sports medicine from Middle Tennessee State University. Kunkel also holds a Master of Arts in management and leadership from Webster University. Kunkel has served in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as serving two tours in Korea. He is currently stationed at Fort McCoy, Wis., as an operations officer. Kunkel and his wife of 15 years, Darcia (Dettore), have two daughters and one son. |
