
Tuesday Pops concert to salute the U.S. flagBy DAILY CHRONICLEA Flag Day observance will highlight Tuesday’s Concert in the Park. The DeKalb Elks Club will join with the DeKalb Municipal Band in a ceremony to honor the U.S. flag. Assisting with this observance will be the Elks officers, the Antlers Youth Group, Boy Scouts and Marilyn’s Majorettes. There also will be fireworks to highlight the performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Band director Dee Palmer recently announced that the guest artist for the program will be vocalist Bob Abel. Abel will sing the hit song, “Music of the Night” from “Phantom of the Opera” and “Surrey with the Fringe on Top” from the Broadway show, “Oklahoma.” The band will feature the music of the musical comedy, “My Fair Lady,” along with other favorite marches, popular music and light classics. The city of DeKalb and the DeKalb Park District, who sponsor these free concerts, invites all to attend. Concerts begin at 8 p.m. in DeKalb’s Hopkins Park bandshell. |
