
FAITH BRIEFSHinckley church to host VBS, food booth St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hinckley will host “Extreme Faith Adventure” vacation Bible school from 9-11 a.m. July 6-9. It will include songs, skits, crafts, games, Bible stories and snacks. Cost is $5 per child and $10 per family. Children must be in preschool through fourth grade. The booth will offer biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and more. Worldwide Missonary Outreach is holding a Missionary Conference at Faith Tabernacle, 325 W. Second St. in Genoa June 17-21. The public is invited to this event, which will highlight the many efforts and successes of the work of spreading the Gospel around the world in the last few months. The conference is a time to share the Gospel and many outstanding testimonies of what Jesus is still doing among His people. Services are at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily with fellowship throughout the day and the final service on Sunday morning. A dress code is observed in the church building. For more infromation, call 815-784-6102. Christian Senior Ministries will hold a “Shop and Share” fundraising program on June 29, June 30 and July 1 at all Jewel-Osco Stores. By shopping at Jewel-Osco on one of these three days, five percent of the total purchases made, excluding tax, will be donated by Jewel-Osco to Christian Senior Ministries. Christian Senior Ministries will use the money generated by Shop and Share to hold weekly activities at 14 senior residential facilities in DeKalb and Ogle counties. These activities include weekly religious services, the “Be a Friend Program,” letter writing, readings, visits, music and singing. The director of Christian Senior Ministries is Deacon Chuck Ridulph. Anyone interested in helping Christian Senior Ministries by shopping at Jewel-Osco on these dates will need a “Shop and Share Identification Slip” before shopping and may obtain a slip by contacting Mardell Ross at 815-784-6217 or by contacting one of the participating churches (Immanuel Lutheran in Hinckley, Immanuel Lutheran in DeKalb, Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John in Sycamore, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle or Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa. First Lutheran Church in DeKalb will host a Blessing of the Animals service at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. People can bring pets to the outdoor worship service, which will feature special prayers for the animals and for people, the caretakers of all of God’s creation. There’s no “dress code” and people should bring their own lawn chairs. Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road in DeKalb, will host “Power Lab” vacation Bible school from 4-7:30 p.m. June 22-26 for children age 3-12. Call the church office at 815-756-2905 or Kat at 815-757-2209 to register. Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore is hosting “Discovery Canyon” vacation Bible school from 9 a.m.-noon June 22-26.
