
IVT plans to stay busy throughout the summerBy DAILY CHRONICLEWith the closing of Indian Valley Theatre’s “Phantom of the Sandwich Opera House” on Sunday, Indian Valley Theatre is already working on upcoming productions: the Children’s Summer Theatre Workshop, “Melodramas at the Sandwich Fair” and “Seussical: The Musical.” The Children’s Summer Theatre Workshops are one two-week program for high school students and one two-week session for children in grades 1-8. The advanced program for high school students is “Movie Makers” and takes place from 9 a.m.-noon Monday-June 26. Session I for children in grades 1-8 is “Fairy Tales” and runs 9-11:30 a.m. July 13-24, with a show on July 25. The cost for session I is $85; students are expected to attend all classes and final student performances. Class size for advanced and session I is limited. Registration can be done online at www.indianvalleytheatre.com. Registration for session I workshop has been extended until June 19. A limited number of scholarships are also available. Open auditions for “Seussical: The Musical” are scheduled for 6-9:30 p.m. June 29 and June 30 at the Sandwich Opera House. Actors age 8 through adults will be accepted; there are roles for about 40 people. Those auditioning are asked to bring 32 measures of music (there will be a pianist to accompany) and be prepared for a cold reading. Most rehearsals will be Friday evenings and Saturdays in the late morning through early afternoon, July through September. Performances for “Seussical: the Musical” are Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 16-18. Children with dance, tumbling and/or gymnastics experience are encouraged to audition. For more information, call the producer 815-786-6281.
