Two injured in Shabbona crash

Two people were injured in a crash on Leland Road south of Preserve Road early Monday morning, according to a statement from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said they were called to the area, where a Dodge Durango had struck a tree, about 6:30 a.m. The vehicle was apparently northbound when it lost control, crossed into the southbound lane and hit the culvert, police said. It then hit two trees before coming to rest.

When police arrived, they could not locate a driver, the statement said. Kathy L. Hanson, 26, of the 200 block of Nissen Stigen in Lee, who police said was the driver, and a 21-year-old man from Millington police said was a passenger in the car were eventually located at a friend’s house and were taken to Valley West Community Hospital.

Hanson was charged with driving under the influence and driving an uninsured vehicle.
