Fourth man arrested in April home invasion
DeKALB – Police have arrested a fourth man they say was involved in a DeKalb home invasion in April.
Jaucarey Raines, 18, who is listed as living in both Palos Hills and Glen Ellyn in court and police documents, was arrested Monday and charged with armed robbery, aggravated robbery and home invasion, according to court documents. His bail was set at $100,000 during a Tuesday morning hearing at the DeKalb County Courthouse.
“He was a suspect right from the start,” DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said.
A warrant was issued for Raines on April 23 and he was booked into the county jail Monday. Spangler was unsure Tuesday whether Raines had turned himself in or if he was arrested elsewhere.
Authorities already have charged three others in the home invasion. Daveyon S. Bradley, 19, Tycarey Q. Raines, 18, and John D. Huggins, 20, all of DeKalb, were arrested April 18 and charged with home invasion, armed robbery and aggravated robbery. Tycarey and Jaucarey Raines are brothers , Spangler said.
Police say four masked men forced their way into an apartment in the 1000 block of Ridge Drive about 1 a.m. April 17. The first intruder showed a handgun to the approximately 11 people in the apartment. There are conflicting reports from witnesses, but it is believed at least two more of the four men had guns, police said.
The intruders ordered the people in the apartment to the ground, striking five people with guns while they took things from all the victims, police said. At least one tenant of the apartment was sleeping in a bedroom, and one of the intruders woke him up by hitting him with a gun. None of the injuries was serious enough to require medical attention, police said.
Home invasion and armed robbery are Class X felonies, each punishable by up to 30 years in prison. Aggravated robbery is a Class 1 felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Jaucarey Raines’s next scheduled court date is June 24.
