March for Babies this Saturday
By Chronicle Staff
The March of Dimes March for Babies will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hopkins Park in DeKalb.
The March for Babies is the premier fundraising event of March of Dimes, a national nonprofit dedicated to preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality, according to a news release from the March of Dimes.
Premature birth affects more than half a million U.S. babies each year, and children born premature are more likely to die or have disabilities, according to the news release. The March of Dimes funds research to address the causes of premature birth and provides comfort and information to affected families.
The local walk is presented by Kishwaukee and Valley West community hospitals. To join as a walker or donor, or for more information, visit www.marchforbabies.org or call 800-525-9255.
