Valley West Community Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual Holiday Treasures bazaar Friday, and in addition to homemade bake sale items and assorted holiday cookies, the bazaar will also feature tables of “like-new” holiday decor.

Gift baskets donated by the hospital departments will be offered for raffle. Proceeds from the annual Holiday Treasures bake sale and bazaar benefit Valley West Community Hospital.

Crafters, artists and home-based business operators will be at the DeKalb Area Women’s Center’s Holiday Shopping Fair, which is also a get-away weekend that will raise money to help maintain the center’s 91-year-old building.

Girl Scouts’ toy drive

4After 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the American Legion, 1204 S. Fourth St. in DeKalb, which is also holding a food drive in conjunction with the toy drive.

DeKalb Girl Scout Troop 730 will hold a toy drive for various community organizations and will benefit children from birth to age 16.

Anyone who would like to help in the troop’s efforts can drop off new, unwrapped toys or gift cards in community collection boxes.

Boy Scout Troop 2 will be collecting donations at the two Brown’s County Market locations for the DeKalb County Animal Shelter, which is in need of cat food, dog food, towels and cleaning supplies.

Money and donations of pet items listed will be appreciated.

Gift-wrapping fundraisers

10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20

Wal-Mart shopping center in DeKalb

A gift-wrapping fundraiser, on these three consecutive Saturdays, will be sponsored by the Christian Senior Ministries.

This is a non-denominational Christian ministry outreach program to area seniors.

Donations for the ministry are welcome.
