Bee a cheerleader at literacy event

Wenke Hansen of Glidden Florist and longtime Altrusa member (left) and Chris DeVlieger, DeKalb Sycamore Altrusa president, pause at last year’s DeKalb County Community Spelling Bee to look at one of the many raffle prizes. Everyone is encouraged to come to this year’s event Thursday to cheer on the 20 teams of spellers. Provided photo.

The theme for the Eighth Annual DeKalb County Community Spelling Bee, which raises funds for literacy grants to local groups and individuals, is “Support Literacy — Bee a Cheerleader.”
