Man killed in auto accident

A Kirkland man died late Thursday evening in a two-vehicle accident in rural Kirkland near the intersection of Quarry and Irene roads. Christopher Jobgen, 41, was extricated from his 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck and treated by on-site paramedics from the Genoa and Kirkland fire departments. He was pronounced dead at 10:43 p.m. by Chief Deputy Coroner Dave Jacobson, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Coroner's Office. The accident occurred about 9 p.m. Thursday when Jobgen, who was driving east on Quarry Road, pulled into the westbound lane in attempt to pass a semitrailer that was also traveling east, DeKalb County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Hickey said Friday.
