Chase Mejia enrolled at NIU in the spring semester after graduating early from Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Mo. Mejia participated in spring football and at the time was hoping to avoid a redshirt year for the 2008 season. Five teams that appeared in the 2007 NCAA Championships will be on the schedule, including Duke, Northwestern, Akron, Bradley, Tulsa and Southern Methodist. NIU opens up against IUPUI at the Northwestern Lakeside Classic on Aug. 29. The Huskies are scheduled to play their first match at the new NIU Track and Field/Soccer Complex, Sept. 5, against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. The Huskies travel to Duke for a Nov. 2 match and will play host to Wisconsin on Oct. 29.
