Prep Roundup: H-BR track team sets 10 personal bests

Hinckley-Big Rock got 10 personal records at the Rockford Christian Invite. Ryan Lippert jumped 5-foot-8 to finish sixth in the long jump. He also finished second in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles. Sycamore, DeKalb at Peterson Prep Meet The Spartans finished fourth overall, tied with Burlington Central. Junior Matthew Gilmer finished first in the 3,200-meter run. Derek Campbell finished fifth in the 1,600-meter run. The 4x100 meter relay team of Scott Miller, Markie Hayes, Bryan Kosusnik and Alex Bourge finished second. Kevin Sabock took second in the shot put and Jason Schepler finished third in the discus. Nic Schrader of DeKalb took eighth in the 3,200. Jon Mascote finished 23rd in the 800-meter run. Zach Milroy took 13th in the 400-meter dash.

GIRLS TRACK Sycamore at Bremen Invitational Sycamore finished second place with 101 points and set two school records along the way. Erin Westerby cleared 9-foot-1 in the pole vault to finish first and set a school record. Jessie Louis cleared 7-feet to finish second. Louis finished first in the long jump. The 4x800 relay team of Nicole O'Connor, Lexie Millburg, Olivia Kevin, and Marisa Tolzin also set a school record by running a time of 10:06. O'Connor and Kevin finished second and third respectively in the 1,600-meter run. Altlee Matthews finished sixth in the discus.

GIRLS SOFTBALL Sycamore 1-11, Freeport 0-1 Rhianna Fleetwood won both games, striking out a total of eight on the day for the Spartans (8-4). Sycamore had 15 hits in the second game. Anna Buzzard led the way by going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Fleetwood was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Rockford Hononegah 3, DeKalb 0 The DeKalb High softball team fell to Rockford Hononegah 3-0. The Barbs are now 6-4 on the season.

Somonauk in Tournament action Somonauk defeated Seneca 2-1, lost to St. Bede 10-0 and lost to Mendota 4-3 in tournament play on Saturday.

Indian Creek 3-4, LaMoille 1-1 Indian Creek swept a doubleheader against LaMoille to sweep it's Little Ten Conference series against the Lions. Both games were makeup's of previous rain canceled games. Jenifer Westbrook and Margarte Harvell scored runs in the first game. Devon White was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and scored the first run. Harvell picked up her second win on the mound this season with seven strikeouts and two walks and allowed one run on one hit.

GIRLS SOCCER Hiawatha 4, Wayland Academy 0 Haley Layne and Jenny Vallou scored two goals each for Hiawatha. Diana Ascencio had an assist. Hiawatha is 7-1 in its first season and plays at home against Maranatha on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

GIRLS BADMINTON DeKalb finished in eighth place of eight teams at the DeKalb Invitational. Jasmine Hollins finished third at No. 3 singles. “I am very happy again with the play of Jasmine Hollins,” said DeKalb coach Duane Cowley. “She's been our most consistent singles player. We're still searching for the formula for success.”
