H-BR has three All-Little Ten girls
Three Hinckley-Big Rock girls, one from Indian Creek and one from Hiawatha were honored as All-Little Ten Conference recently. Sophomore Jenna Thorp and junior Melissa Herrmann were the Royals' unanimous choices while sophomore Maxzine Rossler was also honored. Indian Creek junior Lindsay Richardson was also a unanimous choice while Hiawatha's Rose Taylor was also honored. Thorp averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and finished with 115 steals for as she garnered unanimous honors for the second consecutive season. Herrmann averaged 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds while making 57 percent of her shots for the Royals. Rossler averaged 11 points per game with 84 steals and was the Royals' defensive leader. After winning the Little 10 tournament and being the co-champ of the regular season, Hinckley-Big Rock's season ended with a SuperSectional loss to Newark, who finished the season 2-2 against H-BR. Newark then went all the way to the Class 1A final game before falling in overtime. Richardson joins the team for the third straight season after averaging 17.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 4.9 steals per game. Taylor scored 411 points and made 61-of-139 3-pointers on the season. Other honorees included: Earlville's Steph Benninger and Lauren Kincannon, Newark's Laura Johnson and Sam Akre and Serena's Kelcy Thorsen.
