Barktoberfest and Mutt Strut were a success thanks to many

TAILS HUMANE SOCIETY BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Editor: TAILS Humane Society thanks everyone involved in this year's Barktoberfest and Mutt Strut on Oct. 14 in conjunction with the Cortland Fall Festival and Parade. Despite the rainy morning, dozens of dogs and humans alike had a wonderful time in the contests, raffles and, of course, the kickoff parade of pets. The event raised about $15,000 for direct animal care and spay/ neuter programs at TAILS. Special thanks go to the Cortland Fire Department for welcoming Barktoberfest to their lawn for the day, to the Rev. Mary Gay McKinney for blessing the strutters and to Volunteer Fire Chief Trent Moser, Cortland Mayor Bob Seyller and DeKalb PetSmart manager Dan Reintz for judging our animal contests. We greatly appreciate the contributions of Courtney Marshall for providing our contest stage and those of students from the NIU College of Law for assistance throughout the morning. Boy Scout Troop 33 was well-prepared with good food and hot coffee. TAILS is also very fortunate to have such dedicated staff and volunteers who work far above and beyond for our special events. Thanks also go to this year's generous sponsors: Prairie View Animal Hospital, Milner & Associates, TechPro, Vulcan Materials, Adolph Miller Real Estate, Olympic Chiropractic, Sycamore Containers, PetSmart, Competitive Edge, Paw Lickin' Good Treats and The Power Connection (National Electrical Contractors Association-International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). And most of all, thanks to all who walked in the Mutt Strut to raise money for TAILS. Barktoberfest is TAILS' second largest fundraiser of the year, this year with 95 online registrants.
