IC coach beaten outside Reilly's has died
DeKALB - Officials say a 25-year-old Elgin man who was beaten outside a DeKalb bar early Sunday morning has died. One man has been charged with aggravated battery in the attack, and police expect other charges to be filed in the case.
Luis H. Noriega, a soccer coach at Indian Creek High School in Shabbona, was jumped by a group of people outside Reilly's Bar and Eatery at 1215 Blackhawk Road around 2:15 a.m., according to DeKalb Police Lt. Jim Kayes.
Noriega was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital after the attack and later transferred to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, where he died just before 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Nathan E. Schrank, 21, of DeKalb has been charged with aggravated battery in connection with the attack. He remains in DeKalb
