China cups and birthday cake: Hospitality house to celebrate two years

SYCAMORE - Pay-It-Forward House is preparing to celebrate its second birthday. A celebration will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m. March 24 at the hospitality house at 719 Somonauk St. Opened in March 2005, the house provides daytime respite and overnight accommodations to visitors and guests whose loved ones are receiving medical treatment at Kindred Hospital. Since opening two years ago, Pay-It-Forward House has provided more than 2,125 nights of rest to people from as far away as Hawaii and Florida. Kindred Hospital in Sycamore is a 69-bed long-term acute-care facility providing intensive, medically complex services to ventilator, dialysis and wound patients. The birthday celebration will be a traditional high tea, with homemade scones, tea sandwiches, birthday cake and freshly steeped tea served in china cups. Everyone is invited to stop by and tour the house, meet volunteers and learn about the organization's mission. Members of the Steering Committee will be there to extend their gratitude to the community for the support the house has received over the past two years.
