Nursing student visits First United Preschool

DeKALB - First United Preschool and Daycare children enjoyed their visit with college student Jimmy Schweitzer during his Christmas break. Schweitzer is a nursing student at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. The children learned how to keep their hearts healthy, and Schweitzer also showed them how to take their blood pressure and use a stethoscope. First United Preschool and Daycare is a mission of First United Methodist Church. Children enjoy numerous activities each day, and each room has several different interest centers. There is daily art, science, math and language. As the children work and play in these interest areas, they learn important skills such as cooperating, listening and communicating. Every week, the children visit the DeKalb Public Library for story time, and each week they have chapel chat with Pastor Laura. Each week is a new learning experience. First Daycare is at 321 Oak St. For more information, call (815) 787-6401.
