Police looking for Wal-Mart purse snatcherDeKALB - Police continue to investigate an alleged attempted purse snatching in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 2300 Sycamore Road, on Saturday. Police said that around noon Saturday, a man described as a white 20-year-old with a shaved head tried to take a purse from a 90-year-old woman. DeKalb Police Lt. Jim Kayes said a parking lot surveillance video shows the man getting out of his car and walking around to look for a potential victim. In his attempt to take the purse, he knocked the woman down but did not get the purse, Kayes said. The woman was not hurt. The alleged offender was wearing a blue shirt and "baggy" khaki shorts. He got into a midsize vehicle driven by a woman with brown hair, Kayes said. Kayes said Saturday's report is the only one police have received. He said purse-snatching incidents are unusual in DeKalb. Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to call the DeKalb Police Department at (815) 748-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (815) 895-3272. |
